Earthflesh are a solo project from Switzerland that has recently been featured in this zine and on this recording teams up with another solo project from his home country Kernal and they team up together to create a mixture of dark ambient, drone and harsh noise and this is a review of their 2020 collaboration album "A Sea Of Burden" which will be released in October as a joint effort between Urgence Disc Records, Quinquaa Viae, Short Run Industries and Basement Corner Emissions.
A few seconds of silence starts off the album while the only track that is presented on the recording is over 40 minutes in length. Static sounds can also be heard in the background briefly which slowly evolves into a harsh noise wall along with the music also having its repetitive moments at times.
All of the music is also instrumental while distorted drones and power electronics are also a very huge part of the recording. As the track progresses the music also starts getting more diverse sounding along with the music also adding elements of ambient into some parts of the track and after awhile the song also adds in some cinematic sounding synths.
On this album Earthflesh team up together and bring in a mixture of harsh noise, drone and ambient to create a sound of their own as well as keeping everything instrumental and the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding collaboration from Earthflesh and Kernal and if you are a fan of harsh noise, dark ambient and drone, you should check out this album. 8 out of 10.
