Hostile Surgery are a solo project from Switzerland that plays a mixture of industrial noise, drone and ritual music and this is a review of his 2020 album "Midnight Wounds' which will be released on September 14th by Basement Corner Emissions.
Field recordings and drones start off the album while synths are also added into some parts of the music. A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the songs also mixing in a great amount of noise elements and all of the tracks are also instrumental and at times the music captures a ritualistic atmosphere.
The songs also add in a good amount of diversity while the noises also get very harsh sounding at times. The programmed beats also add touches of industrial into the music along with some distorted sounds also being added into certain sections of the recording as well as all of the tracks also sounding very different from each other, tortured voices can also be heard on the closing song.
Hostile Surgery plays a musical style that takes industrial noise, drone and ritual music and mixes them together to create a sound of his own as well as keeping everything instrumental and the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion Hostile Surgery are a very great sounding mixture of industrial noise, drone and ritual music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Torment" "Puncture" and "Lamentation". 8 out of 10.
