This is a review of another recording from Day Before Us which shows the band going for more of a dark ambient direction this time around with the album being released in 2013 by Rage in Eden and called "Misty Shrouds Of Regret".
A very dark and melancholic sounding keyboard starts off the album along with some nature sounds and a few seconds later the music starts going into more of a dark ambient direction while also keeping a melancholic atmosphere on the following tracks while the soundscapes also start having a more powerful presence.
Once guitars are added into the music the album starts having a more distorted feeling to it while they are only used briefly while on some of the alter tracks they have almost a black metal sound to them when they appear again and most of the early part of the recording sticks to an instrumental ambient direction and as the album progresses drones and noises can be heard in certain sections of the recording.
After being instrumental for a long time spoken word parts are finally added into the music briefly on a few tracks and some of the alter tracks also show the synths adding psychedelic elements onto the recording and the album in whole is very diverse along with each song sounding different from each other.
Day before us have more of a tragic and melancholic dark ambient sound on this recording and the music is a lot more different than the previous album reviewed, the production sounds very dark while the song themes seem to cover melancholy and nature.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Day before us and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Iron Shroud" "Over The Earthly Land" "Autumnal Passing Tears" and "Misty Shrouds Of Regret". 8 out of 10.
