Newgrange and Blakkr Nio are 2 solo artists from Canada that team up on this recording and create some experimental drone and this is a review of their 2014 ep "The Doppler Effect".
A very dark and atmospheric ambient sound starts off the ep and the music is all instrumental with a great amount of soundscapes and on the second track the music starts having more of loud drone feeling along with a distorted sound and you can also hear a little bit of programmed beats in their music at times.
All 4 of the tracks have a different sound to them and on the third song nature sounds find their way into the music and the ep gets more experimental as it progresses and on the last track the music starts evoking more of a militaristic vibe along with some acoustic guitars being utilized.
Newgrange and Blakkr Nio creates some ambient drone on this ep that is very diverse and experimental while keeping everything instrumental, the production sounds very dark while the song themes have a dark feeling to them.
In my opinion Newgrange and Blakkr Nio create some very interesting ambient drone and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cave" and "In Your Grave". 8 out of 10.
