Order Of Victory are a band from Russia that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of martial and neo folk music and this is a review of their 2014 album "Memento Belli" which was released by Casus Belli Musica.
Acoustic guitars and synths start off the album along with some programmed beats which also leads up to more of and epic and atmospheric sound and a few seconds later melodic vocals start to kick in and they bring a more medieval folk music feeling to the recording and on the second track spoken words and military samples are added into the music.
The folk instruments the band uses brings in an early Slavic folk music feeling to the bands musical sound along with the beats having a very militant and war like feeling to them at times, on the 3rd track a small amount of choirs are added into the music as well as the synths having more of an organic atmosphere on this track .
When female vocals are added into the music they bring in a more new age, gothic and operatic feeling to the bands musical sound and each track has a very different sound to it while the music also remains true to a neo folk direction and as the album progresses the drum beats start evoking more of a WWI or WWII atmosphere.
Order Of Victory remain true to their mixture of martial and neo folk on this recording creating a very medieval and war like atmosphere with their musical sound, the production sounds very dark and epic while the lyrics are written in Russian and cover the First World War and Civil War that went on in Russia around a hundred years ago.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Order Of Victory and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "You Wont Survive" and "Phoenix". 8 out of 10..
