This is a review of another recording from Day Before Us which shows the band going for a dark ambient with elements of drone and neo-classical direction with the album being released by Cathedral Transmissions in 2013 and called "Autumnal Wandering".
A very dark ambient sound along with the sounds of nature start off the album and the music also gets more diverse after awhile once the neo classical elements start to kick in and the first 2 songs have a concept going on with them as well as being long and epic in length and on the second track spoken word parts are added into the music.
As the album progresses drones and soundscapes can be heard in certain sections of the recording and after the first 2 tracks the songs are a lot shorter in length and the music starts to get more dark, organic and sinister along with a very melancholic edge and the songs are very diverse with the music never repeating itself.
Day before Us have more of a minimal dark ambient approach this time around while also adding in elements of neo classical while the spoken word parts bring a poetic feeling to the album, the production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover romanticism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Day Before Us and if you are a fan of dark ambient or neo-classical, you should check out this recording,. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "In Runen Aus Dammer II" "Souvenance Lasse" and "The Heart Made Lonely". 8 out of 10.
