Soulnerve are a band from the Netherlands that plays a mixture of melodic death metal, thrash and metalcore and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "The Dying Light".
A very melodic Swedish style death metal sound starts off the album along with some blast beats, guitar solos and metalcore style growls and you can hear some hardcore style back up gang shouts in the background at times and after awhile acoustic guitars are added into certain sections of the recording.
There is a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts throughout the recording and some of the high pitched screams the band uses have a black metal feeling to them at times and there are also a good amount of clean singing vocals on some of the tracks and as the album progresses spoken word parts can be heard in certain sections of the recording and the thrash side of the bands musical style really starts to kick in on some of the later tracks as well as the band bringing in a few power ballads and instrumentals.
Soulnerve take s the melodic Swedish style of death metal and mixes it with old school thrash metal and modern metalcore to create the musical style that is presented on this recording, the production sound s very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark and real life themes.
In my opinion Soulnerve are a very decent sounding mixture of melodic death metal, thrash and metalcore and if you are a fan of these musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Dying Light" "Lost" "End of the Line" and "Salvation". 7/5 out of 10.
