Aura Hiemis are a band from Chile that plays funeral doom/death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Inflicting Ravage To The Holy Cattle" which was released by Australis Records.
Rain and thunder sounds start off the album along with some clean playing a few seconds later before adding in some drum beats and synths which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music. Dark and depressive sounding melodies are also added into the guitar and the slow riffs are also very heavily rooted in funeral doom metal.
All of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the vocals are mostly death metal growls which also show an influence of the 90's era doom/death metal era. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style along with some acoustic guitars and clean playing also being utilized on most of the songs as well as one song also being an instrumental, as the recording progresses melodic vocals and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly and the whole album also sticks to a slower direction.
Autra Hiemis plays a style of funeral doom/death metal that is very very slow, atmospheric, dark and heavy sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness, depression and mysticism themes.
In my opinion Aura Hiemis are a very great sounding atmospheric funeral doom/death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Dream" and "Dead Cold". 8 out of 10.
