Shattered Hope are a band from Greece that plays an atmospheric form of funeral doom/death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Vespers" which was released by Solitude Productions.
Spoken word samples start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. The vocals are mostly screams which also adds in a touch of black metal and death metal growls are also utilized at times.
All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the synths also give the songs more of an atmospheric feeling,. Clean playing is also added into some parts of the music along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and spoken word parts can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
One track also introduces clean vocals onto the album which also show an influence of the epic doom metal style along with some blast beats also being utiliz3ed once the music finally speeds up but keeping the main focus on a slower direction as well as a later song also adding in a brief use of stringed instruments. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover sadness, depression and darkness themes.
In my opinion Shattered Hope are a very great sounding atmospheric funeral doom/death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Verge" and "The Judas Tree". 8 out of 10.
