This is the final review of a recording from Fleshpress which continues their sludge/doom metal sound with the album being called "Tearing Skyholes" and was released by Kult Of Nihilow in 2013.
"Washer" which is the first song on the album opens up with bass and clean guitars along with some drums and a minute later heavy guitar riffs find their way into the song along with some high pitched screams and the song closes with some clean playing.
"Silmien Rei'ittama Taivas" begins with clean guitar playing and background synths and towards the end high pitched screams make their way into the music and the song is very short and under 3 minutes.
"Coming Of Gaze" opens up with melodic guitar and bass riffs along with some drums and a minute later spoken word parts come into the song before going into whispers that have a black metal feeling to them that eventually evolve into sludge screams and halfway through the song psychedelic elements are added in.
"Floating Paranoia" starts up with psychedelic effects and powerful bass guitars along with some drums and heavy guitar riffs a few seconds later as well as a brief use of spoken word parts which evolve into high pitched sludge screams and the song remains in a slow and heavy direction after that while still utilizing psychedelic elements.
"Tearing Skyholes" which is also the title track for the album with acoustic guitars and sound effects as well as some distorted parts and the song is a short instrumental that is under 2 minutes.
"Golden Owl" kicks in with heavy guitar riffs and drums and the guitar riffing also utilizes some melody and after awhile death metal growls and black metal screams find their way into the song along with a brief use of guitar leads and toward the end there are also some aggressive hardcore punk style vocals being added into the song.
"Each Eye Holes The Sky" which is also the last song on the album opens up with clean guitars, bass and drums and after awhile you can hear guitar leads coming in and out of the song as well as some sound effects which also leads to the music going into a heavier direction along with some black metal influenced vocals, as a few minutes go on by there is a brief use of spoken word samples being utilized.
Song lyrics cover misanthropy, anger and disgust , while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording along with some of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Fleshpress and if you are a fan of psychedelic, experimental, sludge and doom metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Floating Paranoia" and "Each Eye Holes The Sky". RECOMMENDED BUY.
