This is a review of another recording from Fleshpress which continues their black metal influenced form of sludge/doom metal with the album being called "Pillars" and was released by Kult Of Nihilow during the year of 2007.
"I Am Your Sacrifice" which is also the first song on the album opens up with dark sound effects along with some guitar riffing a few seconds later which also get heavier as the song moves on as well as the bass guitars getting more powerful before adding in drums along with heavy guitar riffs which also utilize some melody along with amp noises as well as the high pitched screams kicking in a few seconds later and towards the end the music speeds up a bit with the drums which also add in blast beats.
"Pillars" which is also the title track begins with avant garde sound effects and a minute alter clean guitars come into the song and the song is all instrumental with no vocals or heavy guitar riffs being present.
"Disciples Of Nothingness" opens up with the sound effects from the last song but adds in distorted amp noises along with some heavy black metal influenced riffs and drums along with high pitched screams and a small amount of demonic growls which also leads up to guitar solos and leads that come in and out of the song and you can also hear the bass guitars and during the last 10 minutes the song sticks to the same slow doom riff as well as having a funeral doom influenced guitar lead getting mixed in as well as having grim black metal screams come in and out of the song and the song closes with psychedelic sound effects.
"Omega Monolith" begins with psychedelic sound effects before adding in bass guitars and drums along with some clean guitar playing and a couple of minutes alter high pitched screams come into the song along with some dark sounding melodies, after a few minutes heavy guitar riffs finally make their way into the music along with some guitar solos and leads a couple of minutes later as well as speeding up a bit shortly after that to a more mid paced direction before returning to a slower yet psychedelic direction which also closes the song.
"Grave Within" kicks in with drums and bass guitars along with some clean guitar playing and a few seconds later black metal influenced screams slowly start coming into the song which also leads up to some melodic guitar riffing and towards the end of the song the music finally starts getting a lot more heavier as well as bring in fast black metal guitar riffs and blast beats.
"Ave Nihil" which is also the last song on the album begins with some avant garde sound effects which also bring in elements of harsh noise and as the song moves on you can hear drone sounds coming in and out.
Song lyrics cover misanthropy, anger and disgust themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, dark and heavy sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording as well as most of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Fleshpress and if you are a fan of blackened sludge/doom metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Disciples Of Nothingness" and "Grave Within". RECOMMENDED BUY.
