Idaho's Lord Lovidicus has teamed up with Erang to create a true dungeon synth recording and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Gifted With magi".
Programmed drum beats start off the album and they bring in a fantasy film feeling along with some synths which enhance the dark, medieval and epic qualities of the music and they also use a variety of many different sounding keys and you can hear the differences of style with these 2 solo musicians.
Lord Lovidus has a more epic approach to his music while Erang brings in a more dark ambient and medieval atmosphere with his sound along with elements of folk music and these 2 artists do a mixture of their own songs, team up on one of them and also do cover versions of each others songs and add their own approach to the songs covered and on a couple of the tracks spoken word parts are added in briefly.
Lord Lovidicus and Erang boht show they know how to create some epic sounding dungeon synth and bring in a more dark ambient atmosphere to write some very creative and epic sounding songs, the production has a very dark sound and the song themes cover J.R.R Tolkien and epic fantasy.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding album from both Lord Lovidicus and Erang and if you are a fan of dungeon synth, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Lycanthrope's Dream" "Mines Of Moria" and "The Drunken Tyrant". 8/5 out of 10.
