Coffin Haze are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of deathsurf and blackabilly and this is a review of their 2015 cassette "Rehearsal Ritual I" which was released by Caligari Records.
Psycho surf rock style guitar riffing starts off the cassette along with some drum beats and the riffs also bring in 60's style melodies but done in more of a dark and evil approach while also mixing in the energy of punk rock and when solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion.
Semi blast beats can be heard in certain sections of the recording and most of the songs are instrumental with little vocals or songwriting ever being used and the influence of rockabilly is a huge part of the recording while the songs also bring in an improv style and the whole ep sticks to a mid paced direction from beginning to ending of the recording and after awhile elements of death and black metal can be heard and clean singing is added onto the recording.
Coffin Haze plays mostly an instrumental musical style that mixes surf rock and rockabilly together with a touch of black and death metal to create something very original and the production has a very dark, raw and lo-fi sound.
In my opinion Coffin Haze are a very great sounding mixture of deathsurf and blackabilly and if you are looking for something very original, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Sunless Desert" and "AbrhdbrA". 8 out of 10.
