This is a review of a split album between Philippines Pathogen and Malaysia's Deathevoker called "Consecrated In Morbidity" which was released by Old Temple and we will start off the review with Pathogen a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a dark style of death metal with elements of black and doom metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark sounding synth and after a minute goes into a very fast Swedish influenced death metal direction along with a great amount of blast beats, melodies and growling vocals while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on their side of the recording.
The songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads also remain true to an old school style of death metal while also being very melodic at the same time and you can also hear a great amount of doom metal elements in the slower sections of the tracks while some of the vocals throw in a small amount of black metal screams and all of their tracks stick to a heavy musical style while one song also brings in a touch of thrash and the last song was recorded live, the production sounds very raw yet heavy at the same time while the lyrics cover apocalypse and disease themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Pathogen and if you are a fan of old school death metal with touches of black, thrash and doom metal, you should check out t heir side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dominion" and "Blood And Soil".
Next up is Deathevoker a band that plays a very old school form of death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark and heavy sound that also utilizes a great amount of morbid sounding melodies and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard along with some vocals that use a great mixture of both growls and screams and their music is very heavily rooted in the early 90's.
At times the music has a touch of black metal and the solos and leads also remain true to an extreme old school metal style and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and their side of the split also always sticks to a very heavy musical style and they close with a cover of Sepultura's "Troops Of Doom", the production sounds very raw yet heavy at the same time while the lyrics cover dark and blasphemous themes.
In my opinion Deathevoker are a very great sounding old school style death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hateful Quest" and "Bottomless River Of Death".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of death, black and doom metal. 8 out of 10.
