France's Day Before Us have returned with a new recording which continues the neo-classical and dark ambient sounds of previous recordings and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Enlightening Secrecy" which will be released on May 26th by Triple Moon Records.
A very atmospheric ambient soundscape starts off the ep along with some neo classical style synths which also use a very of many different sounding keys which also gives the music more of a symphonic edge while background noises can also be heard at times and most of the tracks are done in an instrumental direction.
At times the music can be very avant garde and experimental and when female vocals are added onto the recording they add in more of a gothic and ethereal atmosphere to the music along with some operatic elements and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts and nature sounds and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Day Before Us creates another recording that remains true to the ethereal, dark ambient and neo classical mixture of previous recordings, the production sounds very dark while the lyrics are written in French and cover dark and poetic themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Day Before Us and if you are a fan of dark ambient and neo classical, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Enlightening Secrecy". 8 out of 10.
