Shrine are a solo project from Bulgaria that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording goes for a mixture of dark ambient and drone and this is a review of his 2022 "Nausicaä" which was released by Cyclic Law.
Sounds of fire burning start off the album along with some field recordings and dark soundscapes a few seconds later. Demonic voices can also be heard in the background at times while the synths also b ring in elements of dark ambient and most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Drones are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while some tracks also add in drum beats and touches of industrial. Throat singing can also be heard in the background briefly along with all of the songs also sounding very different from each other and the album also adds in a few instrumentals.
On this recording Shrine takes dark ambient, drone, field recordings, soundscapes and mixes it with touches of industrial to create a very diverse recording. The production sounds very dark while the song themes focus on Earth's future a thousand years later after the collapse if industrial civilization.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Shrine and if you are a fan of dark ambient and drone, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Seven Days Of Fire" "Like A God Of Death" and "A World Reborn". 8 out of 10.
