Daghraven are a band from Belgium that plays a mixture of dark ambient and drone with some elements of 70's horror soundtrack music and this is a review of their 2015 album "#1" which was released by Consouling Sounds.
A very dark ad atmospheric ambient soundscape starts off the member along with a very haunting atmosphere and after awhile the music starts getting more diverse and a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with a great amount of instrumentals and the synths also use a variety of many different sounding keys.
Drones can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and the songs also bring in a great amount of diversity while also mixing in the atmosphere of a 70's horror movie soundtrack while operatic voices can also be heard in the background at times and some songs also bring in a touch of neo classical and there is also a brief use of violins while a later t rack brings in a small of spoken word samples.
Daghraven plays a musical style that takes dark ambient and drone and mixes it in with the atmosphere of a 70's Italian horror movie soundtrack to create a disturbing and dark style of their own and the production also sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion Daghraven are a very great sounding mixture of dark ambient and drone and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "De Admiraal Heeft Geschoten" "Gedane Zaken Neemen Ger Keer" and "Ten Halve Geekerd, Ten Hale Gedwaald". 8 out of 10.
