Pragnavit are a solo project from Belarus that plays a shamanistic mixture of neo folk and dark ambient and this is a review of his 2016 album "Skarby Zmianaha Karala" which was released as a joint effort between Possession Productions and Crivia Records.
Dark ambient style synths start off the album along with some nature sounds and the music also brings in both a new age and atmospheric feeling along with some elements of folk music and most of the tracks are instrumental and some of the songs also bring in a small amount of electric guitars which also get melodic at times.
Melodic shamanistic chanting can be heard in certain sections of the recording and the songs also bring in a great amount of diversity and the music also brings in a touch of neo classical music at times and some songs also bring in flutes, percussion and tribal beats which also gives the songs more of a medieval pagan atmosphere and as the album progresses acoustic guitars along with spoken word parts can be heard and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length. and some songs also bring in ethnic instruments.
Pragnavit plays a musical style that takes neo folk and dark ambient and mixes it in with the Shamanistic ingenious music of the Belarusian culture to create a style of his own, the production sounds very powerful while the song themes focus on the archaic Baltic roots of Kryuja.
In my opinion Pragnavit are a very great sounding mixture of neo folk and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Suhavieja" .8 out of 10.
