Noestalgya are a solo project from Indonesia that has been featured before in this zine and plays an keyboard form of dark ambient with elements of depressive black metal and this is a review of his 2016 album "Anthems For A Suicide" which was released by Depressive Illusions Records.
A very dark and atmospheric keyboard ambient sound starts off the album and after a few seconds it starts using a variety of many different sounding keys and the songs never use any other instruments and these tracks sound like they could be used as instrumentals on some of the black metal albums that mix in ambient songs.
Most of the music is very calm yet retaining a very dark atmosphere and the music also mixes in a small amount of avant garde elements and as the album progresses grim vocals can be heard in certain sections of the recording and some songs also add in a touch of dungeon synth and towards the end there are keyboard covers of Happy Days "Dont Go" and Silencer's "Sterile Nails And Thunderbolts" before closing with an original track.
Noestalyga creates another keyboard orientated dark ambient/dungeon synth album while also mixing in depressive black metal elements which makes the songs stand out a bit more and the production sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Noestalyga and if you are a fan of depressive black metal and dark ambient, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hymn For The lord Of Sorrow" "I Want You To Die Oday (Last Note)" "My Sorrowful Day(Sunday)" and "Anthem For A Suicide". 8 out of 10.
