Lamia Vox are a solo project from the Czech Republic that plays a mixture of black ambient, drone, neo-classical, post industrial and ritual and this is a review of her 2020 album "Alles ist Ufer. Ewig ruft das Meer" which was released by Cyclic Law.
Atmospheric sounding drones start off the album along with some atmospheric and ambient sounding synths a few seconds later which also gives the music more of a cinematic feeling. When spoken word parts are utilized they also give the songs more of a ritualistic atmosphere and w hen programmed beats are utilized they also give the recording more of a tribal and militant sound.
Ethnic style instruments are also added on some of the tracks while the music also captures the dark atmosphere of occult black metal. Melodic chants and vocals can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with one track also introducing percussion onto the album along with all of the songs also sounding very different from each other, whispered vocals can also be heard briefly.
Lamia Vox plays a musical style that takes black ambient, drone, neo-classical, post industrial and ritual and mixes them together to create a sound of her own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover early modern poetry, Hermiticism, fin-de-siecle symbolism and naturphilosophie themes.
In my opinion Lamia Vox are a very great sounding mixture of black ambient, drone, neo-classical, post industrial and ritual and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Three Dreams" "Animus" and "The Return". 8/5 out of 10.
