Profetus are a band from Finland that plays funeral doom metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Coronation Of The Black Sun" which will be released on September 27th by Weird Truth Productions.
Atmospheric keyboards along with the sounds of wood burning starts off the album before going into a more heavy funeral doom metal direction and after awhile death metal growls and melodic riffing starts to make its presence known as well as mixing the heavy and atmospheric parts together.
All of the tracks are very long and epic in length while a lot of the music is very heavily rooted in the mid 90's and grim vocals are also added into certain sections of the recording along with the guitar leads being done in a very dark yet melodic fashion, one track also adds in a small amount of spoken word parts as well as all as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them, all of the songs stick to a very slow musical direction and they also close the recording with a live track.
Profetus plays a style of funeral doom metal that is very traditional and goes back to the mid 90's Finnish style, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover melancholy, sadness, occultism and nature themes.
In my opinion Proefetus are a very great sounding funeral doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Eye Of Phosphorus" and "Blood Of Saturn". 8 out of 10.
