Metadevice are a solo project from Portugal that plays a mixture of death industrial, harsh noise, power electronics, drone and dark ambient and this is a review of his 2020 album "Studies For A Vortex" which was released by Malignant Records.
Harsh noises and power electronics start off the album while atmospheric sounding drones are also added into some parts of the recording. Vocals are mostly high pitched screams while the music also brings in a lot of underground and old school industrial elements and programmed beats are also a very huge part of the album.
Spoken word parts can also be heard on some of the tracks while the music also has its ritualistic moments. Dark ambient sounds can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with all of the tracks also sounding very different from each other and at times the music also gets very apocalyptic sounding.
Metadevice plays a musical style that takes death industrial, harsh noise, power electronics, drone and dark ambient and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover occultism, horror, apocalyptic and political themes.
In my opinion Meadevice is a very great sounding mixture of death industrial, harsh noise, power electronics, drone and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Matter to Moloch" "Gorgoneion" "Biomorphic Horror" and "Simulation". 8 out of 10.
