This is a review of a split album between Japan's Controlled Death and Rudolph Eb.er called "Death Ceremonies" which will be released on August 21st by Cold Spring and we will start off the review with Rudolph Eb.er a solo artist that plays a very ritualistic, and violin oriented form of death industrial.
His side of the split starts out with some field recordings before adding in some stringed instruments which also gives the music more of an avant garde feeling. The grim spoken word parts also add in touches of black metal and also gives the songs more of a eastern style occult and ritualistic atmosphere.
Power electronics and noise are also utilized at times and also introduce elements of death industrial onto his side of the recording. Drones can also be heard at times along with one track also introducing synths into the music, The production sounds very dark and lo-fi while the songs themes focus on Eastern, Asian and Tantric Occultism and Rituals.
In my opinion Rudolph Eb.er is a very great sounding ritualistic death industrial solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out his side of the split.
Next up is Controlled Death a solo project that plays a primitive mixture of death industrial and Japanese noise.
His side of the split starts out with some harsh noises and power electronics while ambient drones can also be heard in the background. At times the music also brings in the brutal side of death industrial along with some demonic sounding growls and screams also being utilized at times.
Touches of 90's era Japanese harsh noise are also utilized quite a bit throughout his side of the recording. Avant garde and lo-fi orientated soundscapes are also brought into some parts of the music as well as the songs also getting more diverse as the album progresses and the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion Controlled Death is a very great sounding primitive mixture of death industrial and Japanese noise and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out his side of the split.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of death industrial. 8 out of 10.
