BRTHM are a solo project from Switzerland that plays a mixture of harsh noise, dark ambient and drone with some touches of black metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Fossa Commune" which was released by Basement Corner Emissions.
Static sounds start off the album along with some dark ambient style synths a few seconds later before introducing power electronics and harsh noises onto the recording. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the music also captures a very improv orientated atmosphere.
Programmed beats are also added into some parts of the recording while the music also brings in a great amount of cinematic drones. All of the tracks are also instrumentals along with the songs also having their experimental moments as well as adding in a touch of black metal at times and all of the songs also sound very different from each other.
BRTHM plays a musical style that takes harsh noise, experimental, cinematic drones and dark ambient and mixes them together to create a sound of his own as well as keeping everything instrumental and the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion BRTHM is a very great sounding mixture of harsh noise, experimental, drone and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Under An Extinction Moon" and "Life Finds A Way (Hopeful Utopia)". 8 out of 10.
