Blood And Sun are a band from the United States that plays a very dark form of neo-folk and this is a review of their album "Love & Ashes" which will be released in 2020 by Nordvis Produktion.
Fire burning sounds and stringed instruments start off the album along with some ritualistic spoken word parts a few seconds later. The songs also mix in a great amount of folk instruments while the vocals are done in a very clean single as well as some percussion's also being utilized at times.
All of the music also captures a very dark atmosphere while also bringing in the more modern style of neo-folk. Acoustic guitars can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with all of the songs also sounding very different from each other as well as the music also adding in a good mixture of both American and European folk music influences.
Whispered vocals can also be heard briefly along with one of the tracks being very long and epic in length, as the album progresses nature sounds can also be heard briefly and female vocals are added on the closing track. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover paganism, metaphysical and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Blood And Sun are a very great sounding dark neo-folk band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Resurrection Charm" "This Hate In Me Will Pass" "The Wanderer's Road" and "Until the Dawn". 8 out of 10.
