Nofilter is a solo project from Norway that plays a mixture of experimental, dark ambient and minimalist electro and this is a review of her self released 2019 ep "Candle Business".
Dark ambient style synths start off the ep along with a couple of the tracks being very long and epic in length. Elements of electronic music can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording which also gives the songs more of a minimalist atmosphere as well as some of the songs also being instrumental.
At times the music also gets very experimental and avant garde sounding while spoken word parts, tortured voices and whispers can also be heard briefly on a couple of songs. All of the tracks also sound very different from each other as well as some programmed beats also being utilized at times and as the ep progresses a brief use of clean vocals can also be heard on a couple of tracks.
Nofilter plays a musical style that takes experimental, dark ambient and Minimalist electro and mixes them together to create a sound of her own and the production also sounds very dark while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Nofilter is a very great sounding mixture of experimental, dark ambient and minimalist electro and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dead Quiet" and "Disenchantment". 8 out of 10.
