Phobetor are a solo project from Los Angeles, California that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a mixture of extreme metal, drum'n'bass and darkstep and this is a review of his self released 2019 ep "Fractured".
Programmed beats and synths start off the ep while also adding in some elements of drum'n'bass a few seconds later. Metal influences guitar riffing is also added into some parts of the recording as well as the music also capturing the speed of gabber in some parts of the ep.
Elements of techno and electronic music can also be heard in some of the song structures along with all of the tracks also being instrumental. One track also introduces spoken word parts in the music and all of the tracks sound different from each other as well as mixing in some elements of darkstep, clean playing can also be heard on the closing track.
On this recording Phobetor remains true to his mixture of extreme metal, drum'n'bass and darkstep while the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Phobetor and if you are a fan of extreme metal, drum'n'bass and darkstep, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Arkham" and "Fractured". 8 out of 10.
