The Stone Tapes are a band from the Netherlands that plays a mixture of experimental and avant garde and this is a review of their 2019 album "Revolutions In The Head" which was released by Attenuation Circuit.
Electronic sounds start off the album while also adding dome avant garde elements onto the recording. Synths are also utilized quite a bit throughout the album along with some psychedelic sounds also being utilized at times and one track also introduces spoken word parts onto the recording.
At times the music also gets very experimental sounding while influences of industrial are also added into some parts of the recording. When radio noises are utilized they also give the songs more of an avant garde feeling along with some programmed beats also being utilized at times, most of the tracks are also instrumentals and all of the songs also sound very different from each other and as the album progresses noises can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
The Stone Tapes plays a musical style that takes experimental, avant garde and noise and mixes them together to create a sound of their own and the production sounds very dark and lo-fi.
In my opinion The Stone Tapes are a very great sounding mixture of experimental, avant garde and noise and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Trapped In The Wall" "Crystal Maths" and "The Clock Always Stops At Zero". 8 out of 10.
