Boschivo are a solo project from Italy that plays a mixture of drone, experimental, ritual and neo-folk and this is a review of his 2019 album "Bardo Dell' Autodistuzione" which was released as a joint effort between Toten Schwan Records, Aural Tempel and Casetta.
A very dark and ritualistic sound starts off the album while atmospheric sounding drones are also utilized at times. When acoustic guitars are utilized they also add elements of neo-folk onto the recording along with the vocals being mostly clean vocals as well as some evil sounding whispers also being utilized at times.
Synths and distorted amp sounds are also a very huge part of the recording along with the music also getting very experimental and avant garde at times. Electric guitar sounds are also used at times while some of the rougher vocals also add in a touch of black metal as well as the spoken word parts also giving the songs more of a ritualistic atmosphere when they are utilized, all of the tracks sound very different from each other and the closing song is very long and epic in length.
Boschivo plays a musical style that mixes drone, experimental, ritual and neo-folk together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics are written in Italian and cover occultism and alchemy themes.
In my opinion Boschivo is a very great sounding mixture of drone, experimental, ritual and neo-folk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "La Danza Perversa Delle Falene" "Distorta Luna Sterile" and "Bardo Dell' Autodistruzione". 8 out of 10.
