Vatican Shadow are a solo project from New York that plays a mixture of rhythmic industrial, ambient and soundscapes and this is a review of his 2020 album "Persian Pillars Of The Gasoline Era" which was released by 20 Buck Spin.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with some ambient style synths a few seconds later while the music also mixes in some elements of industrial. Electronic sounds are also a very huge part of the recording as well as the songs also adding in a great amount of programmed beats and a great portion of the tracks are also instrumentals.
At times the music also brings in the more melodic side of noise while also adding in a decent amount of metallic percussion. All of the tracks also sound very different from each other along with the bass sound also giving the music more of a martial atmosphere as well as some touches of underground dance music also being added into certain sections of the recording and the last two songs are also very long and epic in length.
Vatican Shadow plays a musical style that takes rhythmic industrial, ambient and soundscapes and mixes them together to create a sound of his own as well as keeping everything instrumental. The production sounds very dark while the song themes focus on wars in the Middle East and Persian Gulf.
In my opinion Vatican Shadow are a very great sounding mixture of rhythmic industrial, ambient and soundscapes and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Rehearsing For The Attack" and "Moving Secret Money". 8 out of 10.
