Grey Clouds Monolith are a duo from Italy that plays a very ritualistic form of dark ambient and this is a review of their self titled 2020 album which was released by Toten Schwan Records.
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the album along with some home made instruments a few seconds later. When synths are utilized they also bring in elements of dark ambient while some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length as well as some drum b eats also being added into some parts of the recording.
At times the music also gets very tribal sounding while the whispered vocals also give the songs more of a demonic atmosphere. Some of the tracks are also instrumentals along with one track also introducing ritualistic sounding bells onto the album as well as each song also sounding very different from each other.
Grey Clouds Monolith plays a musical style that takes dark ambient and ritual and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark while the song themes revolve around a journey into one's own subconsciousness.
In my opinion Grey Clouds Monolith are a very great sounding mixture of ritual and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ashes Of the Gods"and "Invocat".8 out of 10.
