Makeup And Vanity Set are a solo project from Nashville, Tennessee that plays a very dark form of ambient and this is a review of his 2020 album "Liturgy" which was released by Nailbat Tapes.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with some programmed beats also being utilized at times while a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length. At times the music serves as a soundtrack for a very dark and disturbing nightmare and when synths are utilized they bring in elements of ambient.
Most of the tracks are also instrumentals while all of the songs also sound very different from each other which also gives the recording more diversity. Electronic sounds can also be heard in certain sections of the music as well as the songs also mixing in touches of synthwave and as the album progresses the music also starts getting more progressive sounding, pan flutes can also be heard briefly,
Makeup And Vanity Set plays a style of dark ambient that is very diverse sounding as well as adding in some progressive and synthwave elements to create a sound of his own while the production sounds very dark,.
