DomJord are a solo project from Sweden that consists of a member from Funeral Mist and Marduk and plays a minimalist mixture of ambient and electronic music and this is a review of his 2020 album "Gravrost" which will b e released on November 13th by Vidfare Productions.
Dark ambient style synths start off the album along with some militant sounding programmed beats also being introduced onto the recording a few seconds later. A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the music also adding in a great amount of electronic music elements.
The synths also add in a variety of many different sounding keys while the music also captures the atmosphere of an apocalyptic soundtrack at times. All of the tracks also sound very different from each other along with some songs also adding in touches of neo classical as well as one track also introducing distorted sound effects onto the recording and all of the music also sticks mostly to an instrumental direction and as the album progresses a brief use of spoken word parts can also be heard.
GomJord plays a musical style that takes dark ambient, minimalism and electronic music and mixes them together to create a sound of his own as well as keeping most of the music instrumental. The production sounds very dark while the song themes focus on apocalyptic gloom, existential despair and the death of a civilization.
In my opinion DomJord are a very great sounding minimalist mixture of dark ambient and electronic music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Overgang" "Gravrost" and "Undergang". 8 out of 10.
