Odyrmos are a solo project from Greece that plays a mixture of dark ambient, dungeon synth, experimental and ritual with a touch of black metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Eternal Sleep" which was released by Depressive Illusions Records.
Dark ambient style synths start off the album along with a brief use of rain and thunder sounds before adding in some elements of dungeon synth. The synths also bring in a variety of many different sounding keys along with most of the tracks also being instrumentals and at times the music also gets very experimental sounding.
Ritualistic sounds are also added into some parts of the recording while one track also adds in a brief use of children singing and spoken word sample which also return on a later songs. When whispers are utilized briefly they also give the music more of an evil atmosphere along with all of the songs also sounding very different from each other and the album closes with a cover of Rotting Christ's "Feast Of the Grand Whore".
Odyrmos plays a musical style that takes dark ambient, dungeon synth, experimental and ritual and mixes together with some touches of black metal to create a sound of his own and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Odyrmos are a very great sounding mixture of dark ambient, dungeon synth, experimental and ritual with some touches of black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Dearest Of Your Desires" and "Peaceful Death". 8out of 10.
