Shark Vanish are a duo from Finland that plays a mixture of noise, ambient and post metal and this is a review of their self released 2020 album "KYTO".
Ambient style synths and soundscapes start off the album along with some throat singing a very seconds later which also gives the music more of a shamanistic and ritualistic feeling. Pagan style melodic chanting vocals can also be heard at times along with the clean playing also adding in elements of post rock.
When bass guitars are utilized they also add in a very powerful sound while one track also introduces elements of dungeon synth and drum beats onto the recording. At times the music also gets very experimental sounding along with the vocals also having their aggressive moments and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly.
Moises can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with the music also capturing the heaviness of post metal in some parts of the music. All of the tracks sound very different from each other as well as the music also having its psychedelic moments, one song also introduces electric guitars onto the album.
spoken word parts can also be heard briefly and as the recording progresses a brief use of clean playing is also utilized as well as the music also speeding up on the closing track and also adding in a brief use of blast beats. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover darkness, nature and occultism themes.
In my opinion Shark Vanish are a very great sounding mixture of noise, ambient and post metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Kyto" "Valonarat Vapauttajat" and "Uskon asia II: Lantrinkia ehtoollispulloihin". 8 out of 10.
