Undirheimar are a solo project from Germany that plays a very ritualistic and shamanistic form of dark ambient and this is a review of his 2020 album "Haljarrunar" which was released by Cyclic Law.
Dark ambient style synths start off the album while the percussion's also give the music more of a tribal and ritualistic atmosphere. When throat singing is utilized it also gives the music more of a Mongolian, Tibetan and Siberian shamanistic atmosphere and all of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
At times the music also gets very militant sounding while some of the soundscapes also go into more of a distorted direction. All of the songs also sound very different from each other along with one track also introducing demonic voices, whispers and grim screams which also adds in a touch of black metal.
Undirheimar plays a musical style that takes dark ambient and ritualistic music and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics are written in German and cover Runes, Nordic Shamanism and Thurisan Sorcery themes.
In my opinion Undirheimar are a very great sounding shamanistic mixture of dark ambient and ritual and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Utgardr" and "Haljoz Anakalza". 8 out of 10.
