Dyrgaist are a solo project from France that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a dark form of ambient with some elements of drone and minimalism and this is a review of his self released 2020 album "En arrivant des paysages inconnus a travers portales".
An almost silent sound starts off the album while also getting more powerful with each second in the beginning. Dark ambient style synths and atmospheric soundscapes are also a very huge part of the recording along with both of the tracks being very long and epic in length and all of the music is instrumental.
Throughout the album you can also hear a great amount of diversity while also capturing an occult orientated atmosphere at times. Drones can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with the music also can be used as a soundtrack for an astral journey and the second track also adds in more minimalist touches and noises before returning back to a dark ambient direction and both songs sound different from each other.
On this recording Dyrgaist creates one track that is more in a dark ambient drone direction while the second track shows the music experimenting more with noise which also shows the album showing progress from the previous release while the production sound very dark.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Dyrgaist and if you are a fan of dark ambient, drone and noise, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Un crépuscule irisé d'un sous-plan négatif, en bas, la pluie éternelle". 8 out of 10.
