New York's solo project Megalophobe has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a mixture of experimental, ambient and cinematic soundscapes and this is a review of his 2020 album "Music For Resistance Fantasies" which will be released in December by Nefarious Industries.
Ambient style synths start off the album while also adding in a variety of many different sounding keys. A great portion of the tracks are also long and epic in length along with the music also adding in a good amount of cinematic soundscapes that captures the atmosphere of a classic black and white horror film.
At times the music also gets very experimental and avant garde sounding while all of the songs also stick to an instrumental direction. Accordion's and clean guitars can also be heard in some parts of the music along with one track also introducing field recordings onto the recording as well as a brief use of electric guitar solos and leads, each song also sounds very different from each other.
On this recording Megalophobe that avant garde, experimental, ambient and cinematic soundscapes and mixes them together to create a sound of his own as well as keeping everything instrumental while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Meagalophobe and if you are a fan of experiemntal, avant garde, ambient and cinematic soundscapes, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dramy" and "Voxy". 8 out of 10.
