Kari Rueslatten is a solo artist from Norway that was a former member of The Third And The Mortal and with her solo material plays Nordic folk-pop and this is a review of her 2020 album "Sorgekape" which was released by Spindelssin Recordings.
Acoustic guitars start off the album along with a decent amount of finger picking and full chords while also adding elements of folk music onto the recording. Most of the vocals are done in a clean pop style as well as the keyboards also adding in a variety of many different sounding keys.
All of the drum beats are also programmed while all of the songs also sound very different from each other. When electric guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with some bass guitars also being added into some parts of the recording as well as some tracks also adding in a small amount of stringed instruments.
Kari Rueslatten plays a musical style that takes Nordic folk music and mixes it with pop rock to create a sound of her. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover melancholic themes.
In my opinion Kari Rueslatten is a very great sounding Nordic folk pop solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sorgekaape" "Nar morkett faller" "Savn" and "Storefjell". 8 out of 10.
