Goatcraft are a solo project from Texas that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of dark ambient and neo classical and this is a review of his 2020 double album "Mephistophelian Exordium" which will be released on November 20th by Hessian Form.
Neo-classical style keyboards start off the album while also adding in a variety of many different sounding keys. The first track is also a live 20 minute song along with all of the following songs being studio tracks along with the music also incorporating a great amount of dark ambient elements.
Tragic sounding piano's are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while the music also brings in a vary dark and occult atmosphere to the songs. A great portion of the tracks are also improvised along with all of the songs also sticking to an instrumental direction as well as the music also getting more diverse as the compilation progresses and a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
On this compilation Goatcraft remains true to the occult mixture of dark ambient and neo classical that he has established on previous releases as well as keeping everything instrumental while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding collection from Goatcraft and if you are a fan of dark ambient and neo classical, you should check out this compilation. 8 out of 10.
