Bathory Legion are a solo project from Rome, Italy that plays a mixture of avant garde, black ambient, industrial and ritual and this is a review of his 2020 ep "Drepe-Handiglsformalat" which was released by The Sinister Flame.
Dark ambient style soundscapes start off the ep while the only track that is presented on the recording is over 18 minutes in length. At times the music also gets very avant garde sounding along with the music also adding in a decent amount of programmed beats and stringed instruments can also be heard briefly.
The music also adds in a great amount of underground industrial elements while also capturing a very ritualistic atmosphere. Spoken word chants and melodic chants can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with the synths also giving the music more of an occult atmosphere as well as adding in some distorted sounds and the music also shows an influence of black metal at times, as the song progresses the music also gets more diverse sounding.
Bathory Legion plays a musical style that t akes avcant garde, black ambient, industrial and ritual and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover pain, death, afterlife, war and beyond from more of an occult and left hand path point of view.
In my opinion Bathory Legion are a very great sounding mixture of avant garde, black ambient, industrial and ritual and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. 8 out of 10.
