Taurwen are a solo project from Turkey that plays a mixture of dark ambient and dungeon synth and this is a review of his self released 2020 album "A Wind Blows From The Mountain Of Death".
Dungeon style synths start off the album while also adding in a very of many different sounding keys. The songs also ad d in a great amount of programmed beats and neo classical elements along with the tracks also capturing the atmosphere of a fantasy movie soundtrack as well as being very medieval sounding at times.
Touches of dark ambient can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while most of the tracks are also instrumental. Percussion's can also be heard in some parts of the music along with a couple of songs also introducing water and nature sounds onto the album as well as some tracks also showing an influence of folk music and the whole recording sticks to an instrumental direction.
Taurwen plays a musical style that takes dungeon synth, dark ambient and neo classical and mixes them together to create a sound of his own as well as keeping everything instrumental while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Taurwen is a very great sounding mixture of dark ambient, dungeon synth and neo classical and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Rites Of Spring" "Misty Path" "Pale Sun" and "The Calm Of The Mountains". 8 out of 10.
