Arathgoth/Man With No Fate/Katabaz Records/2013 Full length Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Arathgoth  with  the  music  returning back to  a  dungeon  synth  sound  but  also  mixing  in  elements  of  folk  music  with  the  album  being  called  "Man  With  No  Fate"  and  was  released  by  Katabaz  Records  in  the  year  of  2013.

  The  album s tarts  off  with  some  acoustic  guitars  and  a  few  seconds  later  drum  programming  starts  to  kick  in  along  with  some medieval  sounding  synths  and  they  also  bring  back  the  dungeon  sound  of  the  first  album  while  also  mixing  it  with  newer  elements  an  you  can  also  hear  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  being  added  into  the  music.

  The  album  for  the  most  part  sticks  to  a  dungeon  synth  sound  while  you  can  still  hear  influences  from  classical,  atmospheric  and  ambient  music  and  this  album  has  a  back  to  the  roots  type  of  feeling  to  it  after  doing  a  sci  fi  synth  album  and  the  acoustic  guitars  do  make  a  return  to  the  last  song  along  with  some  heavy  guitars  and  spoken  word  parts..

  Song  themes  on  this  album  cover  a  concept  about  a  man  who  was  rejected  by  fate  but  started  to  regain  his  future  as  a  phoenix  reborn  from  the  ashes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark  and  medieval  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Arathgoth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dungeon  synth,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Man  With  No  Fate"  "Dark  Side  Of  The  Mirror"  "Be  King  By  the  Sword"  and  "Reborn".  8  Out  of  10.

Arathgoth/Interplanetary Travel/Katabaz Records/2013 Full Length Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Arathgoth  which  continues  his  dungeon  synth  sound  while  also  adding  in  science  fiction  and  black  metal  elements  with  the  album  being  called  "Interplanetary  travel"  and  released  by  Katabaz  Records  during  the  year  of  2013.

  The  album  starts  out  with  classical  music  style  sounds  and  after  awhile  they  start  adding  in  more  ambient,  experimental  garde  elements  along  with  some  epic  and  atmospheric  dungeon  synths  and  instead  of  the  medieval  sounds  of  the  previous  recording  this  album  goes  into  a  more  futuristic  direction.

  As  the  album  progresses  you  can  hear  some  of  the  early  works  of  Mortiis  influencing  the  music  while  also  being  more  modern  at  the  same  time  as  well  as  the  synths  bringing  in  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  and  as  time  goes  on  by  you  can  also  hearing  some  industrial  being  added  onto  the  record  which  also  leads  to  a  small  amount  of  guitar  playing.

  By  the  time  the  4th  song  comes  around  the  guitars  start  getting  heavy  and  also  bring  a  black  metal  influence  to  the  music  as  well  as  mixing  in melodic  guitar  leads  and  drum  programming  and  when  it  gets  into  the  5th  song  robotic  vocals  along  with  spoken  word  parts  are  added  in

  This  album  is  a  huge  stylistic  change  for  Arathgoth ,  while  the previous  album  was  purely  dungeon  synth  this  album  has  more  of  a  futuristic  and  sci-fi  sound  and  he  also  brings  in  industrial  and  black  metal  influences  to  create  a  sound  only  he  can  call  his  own.

  Song  themes  over  darkness,  cosmos,  Star  War  and  Science  Fiction,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  and  the  synths  and  guitars  all  have  a  very  great  sound  to them  along  with  the  last  song  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Arathgoth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of futuristic  synth  music  with  a  black  metal  influence,  you  should  check out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Interplanetary  Travel"  "My Gom  Jabbar"  "Monilith"  and  "Catches  The  Replicant".  9  out  of  10.

Arathgoth/The Seasons Of Ashes/Katabaz Records/2012 Full Length Review

  Arathgoth  are  a  1  man  band  from  the  Forgotten  Lands  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  epic  form of  dungeon  synth  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2012  album  "The  Seasons  of  Ashes"  which  was  released  by  Katabaz  Records.

  The  album starts  out with  some  dark  ambient  sounds  before  adding  in  some  atmospheric  and  epic  sounding  synths  which  bring  a  very  medieval sound  to  the  recording  and  the  synths  utilize  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  along  with  some  drum  programming  being  added  in  and  you  can  also  hear  black  metal  influences.

  As  the  album  progresses  you  can  hear  some  dark  avant  garde  elements  being  added  into the  music  along  with  some  elements  of  classical  which  also  bring  in  the  feeling  and  atmosphere  of  an  old  black  and  white  horror  movie  and  every  song  has  a  different  sound  to  it  while  being  true  to  dungeon  synth  as well  as  bring  in  a  ritualistic  shamanistic  feeling.

  Song  themes  cover  medieval,  fantasy  and  a  concept  about  Morbelins,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark  and  powerful  sound  and  the  synths  and  drum  programming  have  an  epic  feeling  to  them.

  In  my  opinion  Arathgoth  are  a  very  great  sounding  dungeon  synth  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Forgotten  Land"  "The  Iniatic  Castel"  "Escape  From  The  Ice  Labyrinth"  and  "The  Final  Battle-Fight  For  Victory".  9  out  of  10.
