Sun Through Eyelids/DeepDark/Sebastian Crugely/The Last Stop (Suburban Life)/2016 Split Album Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  3  way  split  between  New  Zealand's  Sun  Through  Eyelids,  Russia's  DeepDark  and  Argentina's  Sebastian  Crugely  with  the  album  being  self  released  in  2016  and  focusing  on  recorded  myths  and  mysteries  of  American  Indians  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Sun  Through  Eyelids  a  duo  that  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  drone.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  ambient  style  synths  while  the  track  is  over  15  minutes  in  length  along  with  some  whispers  being  utilized  in  the  background  as  well  as  some  drones  also  being  utilized  at  times,  all  of  the  music  is  instrumental  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  Sun  Through  Eyelids  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  dungeon  synth  and  drone  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  duo.

  Next  up  is  DeepDark  a  solo  project  that  plays  dark  ambient.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  ambient  style  synths  and  atmospheric  soundscapes  while  his  song  is  15  minutes  in  length  along  with  some  drones  also  being  used  at  times  and  the  music  is  all  instrumental and  as  the  track  progresses  rain  and  thunder  sounds  are  added  into  the  music  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  DeepDark  is  a  very  great  sounding  dark  ambient  solo  artist  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.

  Closing  the  split  is  Sebastian  Crugely  a  solo  artist  that  plays  a  mixture  of  dark ambient and  dungeon  synth.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  atmospheric  ambient  sound  while  elements  of  dungeon  synth  are  also  utilized  at  times  along  with  some  field  recordings  as  well  as  the  music  being  instrumental  and  the  track  is  almost  15  minutes  in  length,  distorted  drones  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  track  from  Sebastian  Crugely  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  dark  ambient.  8  out of  10.

Weeping Glass/Sun Through Eyelids/Experiment#508/A Bleeding Star/Polar Shadows/Eighth Tower Records/2018 4 Way Split Album Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  4  way  split  album  between  Weeping  Glass,  Sun  Through  Eyelids,  Experiment#508  and  A  Bleeding  Star  called  "Polar  Shadows"  which  was  released  by  Eighth  Tower  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Weeping  Glass  a  project  that  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  noise  and  drone.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  atmospheric  sounding  drones  while  ambient  style  synths  are  also  used  quite  a  bit  throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  soundscapes  as w ell  as  both  of  their  tracks  being  instrumentals  and  also  bringing  in  elements  of  noise,  acoustic  guitars  are  added  onto  the  second  track  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  Weeping  Glass  are  a  very  great sounding  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  drone  and  noise  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Bisk  Orta".

  Next  up  is  Sun  Through  Eyelids  a musical  project that  plays  dark  ambient

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  atmospheric  soundscapes  along  with  some  dark  ambient  style  synths  a  few  seconds  later  while  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  at  time  but  done  with  a  more  sci-fi  style  as  well  as  all  3  tracks  sounding  different  from  each  other  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  Sun  Through  Eyelids  are  a  very  great  sounding  dark  ambient  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Descent".

  Next  up  is  Experiment#508  a  music  project  that  plays  a mixture of  dark  ambient,  noise,  industrial  and experimental.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  avant  garde  style  soundscapes  along  with  some  elements  of  harsh  noise  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  atmospheric  drones  as  well  as  all  of  their  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  as  their  side  of  the  split  progresses  the  music  gets  more  experimental  with  soem  touches  of  underground  industrial  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  Experiment#508  is  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  drone  and  experimental  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  his  d]side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "And  Death  Will  Save  Us  All".

  Closing  the  compilation  is  A  Bleeding  Star  a  music  project  that  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  drone.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts out  with  some  ambient  style  drones  while  field  recordings  are  also  used  at  times  along  with  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  synths  as  well  as  the  first  track  being  over  20  minutes  in  length,  all  of  the  music  is  instrumental  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  A  Bleeding  Star  is  a  very  great  sounding  mixture of  dark  ambient  and  drone  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Nighthigh".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  dark  ambient,  noise  and  industrial,.  8  out  of  10.
