Encoffination/We Proclaim Your Death, O' Lord/Selfmadegod Records/2019 CD Review

  San  Diego,  California's  Encoffination  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  funeral  doom/death  metal  style  of  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "We  Proclaim  Your  Death,  O'  Lord"  which  was  released  by  Selfmadegod  Records.

  Funeral  orientated  synths  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music  at  times.  A  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  whispers  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  briefly  along  with  the  slow  and  heavy  riffs  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  doom  metal.

  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  yet  guttural  death  metal  growls  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  at  times.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them while  the  music  also  shows  some  influences  of  90's  era  doom/death  metal  but  also  keeping  it  modern  at  the  same  time,  one  track  also  introduces  clean  playing  onto  the  recording  and  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  slower  direction.

  On  this  recording  Encoffination  remains  true  to  the  funeral  doom/death  metal  sound  that  was  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Death  and  Eternity  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Encoffination  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  funeral  doom/death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ebony  Skulls"  "The  Keys  Of  Hell  And  Death"  and  "Haunted  Voices".  8  out  of  10.

Encoffination/III - Hear Me, O Death(Sing Thou Wretched Choirs)/Selfmadegod Records/2014 CD Review

  Encoffination  are  a  band  from  the  United  States  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this zine  and  plays a  very  heavy,  dark  and  occult  form  of  funeral  doom/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "III -  Hear  Me,  O  Death(Sing  Thou  Wretched  Choirs)"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Selfmadegod  Records.

  Melodic  and  ritualistic  chants  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  organ  and  bell  noises  and  after  the  intro  the  music  goes  into  a  slow,  dark  and  heavy  doom/death  metal  sound  while  also  maintaining  and  atmospheric  background  as  well  as  having  a  small  amount  of  melody  in  their  music  at  times.

  When  vocals  are  added  into  the  music  they  are  very  deep,  dark  and  guttural  sounding  death  metal  growls  along  with  a  few  seconds  of  spoken  word  parts  being  used  on  a  couple  of  the  tracks  and  most  of  the  songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  all  of  the  music  except  for  the  intro  remains  true  to  a  very  slow  and  heavy  doom/death  metal  direction  and  never  speeding  up  to  create  some  dark  funeral  dirges.

  Encoffination  creates  another  recording  that  displays  the  heaviest  and  darkest  style  of  funeral doom/death  metal  while  also  adding  a  very  ritualistic  sounding  felling  into  some  of  the  heaviest  music  that  could  possibly  be  made,  the  production  sound s very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism  and  the  celebration  of  death.

  In  my  opinion  this  is another  great sounding  recording  from  Encoffination  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Charnel  Bowels  Of  a  Putrescent  Earth"  "Rotting  Immemorail"  and  "Mould  Of  Abadonment".  8  out  of  10.

Encoffination/Ritual Ascending Beyond Death/SelfMadeGodRecords/2010 CD Review

  Encoffination are a band with members from Georgia and Texas that plays a very heavy and brutal style of doom/death metal and this is a review of their 2010 album "Ritual Ascending Beyond Death" which was released by SelfMadeGod Records.

Drums are mostly slow doom style drumming with some mid paced to fast playing that utilizes some blast beats, while the bass playing has a very heavy and distorted tone that mixes doom metal and death metal together.

Rhythm guitars are mostly slow and heavy doom/death metal riffs with some faster death metal riffing being used at times, and there are little to no lead guitars or solos present on this album.

Vocals are all deep death/doom growls with some high pitched screams and samples being thrown in at times, while the lyrics cover the ritual ascension of death and purity, as for the production it sounds very heavy, dark and powerful.

I n my opinion Encoffination are a very great doom/death metal band that should appeal to all fans of this genre. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nefarious Yet Elegant Are The Bowls Of Hell" "Entombment Of Breathing Flesh" and "Coffinpsalms". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Encoffination/O Hell Shine In Thy Whited Sepulchures/SelfMadeGod Records/2011 CD Review

  Encoffination are a band with members being from Georgia and San Diego that plays a brutal mixture of funeral doom and doom/death metal and this is a review of their 2008 album "O Hell Shine In Thy Whited Sepulchures" which was released by SelfMadeGod Records.

Drums are mostly slow to mid paced drumming with only a few seconds of fast playing and blast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars are all slow to mid paced riffs that combine funeral doom with doom/death metal to create a very dark and heavy sound mixed in with some dark sounding melodies as well as a few seconds of fast riffing and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.

Vocals are all deep death/doom metal growls mixed in with some funeral sounding samples and the first song being spoken word, while the lyrics cover the Ritual Procession Of Death And Eternity, as for the production it has a very dark and heavy sound.

In my opinion this is another great album from Encoffination and if your where a fan of their previous recordings, you should this one out Immediately when it is released. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Rites of Ceremonial Embalm'men" "Ritual Until Blood" "Elegant in Their Funebrial Cloaks, Arisen" and "Annunciation of the Viscera". RECOMMENDED BUY.
