Poyezd Rodina/White Dal/Satanath Records/Wolfshade Records/Silent Time Noise Records/2014 CD Review

    Poyezd Rodina  are  a  solo  project  from  Russia  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  funeral  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2014  album  "White  Dal"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath  Records,  Wolfshade  Records,  and  Silent  Time  Noise  Records.

  Train  sounds  and  ambient  style  synths  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  programmed  beats  and  after  the intro the  music  goes  into  more  of  a  heavy  funeral  doom  metal  direction  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  and  elements  of  Russian  folk  music  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Both  of  the  atmospheric  and  heavy  parts  mix  together quite  a  bit  throughout  most  of  the  tracks  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  there  are  also  some  folk  instruments  being  utilized  at  times  and  as  the  album  progresses  melodies  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  a  brief  use  of  melodic  vocals  as  well  as  a  touch  of  black  metal  and  all  of  the  songs  stick  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction.

  Poyezd  Rodina  plays  a  style of  funeral  doom  metal  on  this  recording  that  is  very  slow,  dark,  atmospheric  and  heavy  and  also  adds  in  a  touch  of  folk  music,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Russian  and  cover  death  and  politics  of  Russian  Existentialism.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Poyezd  Rodina  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  funeral  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "White  Dal"  "Soldiers  Sky"  and  "Station Powder".  8  out  of  10.

Poyezd Rodina/Funeral Tears/Frozen Tranquility/Symbol Of Domination Productions/Metallic Media/2015 Split CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Russia/Ukraine's  Poyezd Rodina  and  and  Russia's  Funeral  Tears  called  "Frozen  Tranquility  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Symbol  Of  Domination  Productions  and  Metallic  Media  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with Poyezd Rodina  a  band  that  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  funeral  doom  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  avant  garde  keyboard  sound  that  also  brings  in  a  touch  of  folk  music  and  after  the  drum  beats  kick  in  the  music  starts  getting  more  heavy,  melodic  and  depressive  while  also  being  very  atmospheric  at  the  same  time  and  when  screams  are  added  onto  the  recording  they  bring  an  influence  of  black  metal  onto  the  recording.

  When  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  musical  fashion  and  all  3  of  their  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  mix  in  a  decent  amount  of  death  metal  growls  and  violins  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  their  songs  along  with  acoustic  guitars being  added  in  time  that  also  add  in  a  touch  of  post  rock  and  all  of  theri  songs  remain  true  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction.

  Poyezd  Rodina  plays  a  style  of  funeral  doom  metal t hat  is  very  atmospheric  and  melodic  and  also  adds  in  a  touch  of  black  metal,  the  production  on  their  side  of  the  recording  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Russian  and  cover  Death  and  Poestics  of  Russian  Existentialism.

  In  my  opinion  Poyezd  Rodina  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  funeral  doom  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Only  Death".

  Next  up  is  Funeral  Tears    a  solo  project  that plays  funeral  doom   metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark,  heavy  and  melodic  funeral  doom  metal  sound  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  his  songs  and  after  awhile  grim  death  metal g rowls  make  their  presence  known  on  his  side  of  the  recording  and  all  3  of  his  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  When  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  very  dark  and  melodic  sounding  and  some  of  the  vocals  also  bring  back  some  of  the  90's  atmospheric  doom/death  metal  style  while  some  of  the  screams  also  add  in  a  touch  of  black  metal   and  all  of  his  songs  stick  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction  without  any  mid  tempo  or  fast  parts  and  spoken  words  can  be  heard  briefly  on  the  last  track.

  Funeral  Tears  plays  a  style  of  funeral  doom  metal  that  is  very  melodic  and  atmospheric  sounding  and also  mixes  in  some  90's  influences,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  Russian  and  English  and  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Funeral  Tears  are  a  very  great  sounding  solo  funeral  doom  metal  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Hope".

   In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  funeral  doom  metal.  8  out  of  10.
