Briqueville are a band from Belgium that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of drone, industrial, sludge and post metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Quelle" which was released by Pelagic Records.
Distorted sounding drones start off the album along with some powerful sounding bass guitars a few seconds later. Once the drums and guitar riffing kick in the slower sections of the songs also start mixing in the heaviness of sludge metal and a great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the solos and leads are also done in a very distorted style. Elements of post metal are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with all of the music being instrumental as well as one of the track also shows touches of industrial, synths and clean playing can also be heard in some parts of the recording and all of the music also sticks to a slower direction.
On this recording Briqeville takes drone and industrial and mixes it with sludge and post metal to create a sound of their own as well as keeping everything instrumental while the production sounds very professional.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Briqueville and if you are a fan of drone, industrial, sludge and doom metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Akte VIII" "Akte VII"and "Akte XV". 8 out of 10.
