Nadja are a duo from Germany that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording goes for a mixture of dark ambient, drone and minimalism and this is a review of their 2024 album "Jumper" which was released by Momentarily Records.
Programmed drum beats start off the album while also adding in a lot of minimalist touches and both of the tracks are almost 30 minutes in length. The whole recording also sticks to an instrumental direction along with the music also having its repetitive moments repeating the same sounds for minutes on end.
After awhile drones start making their presence known while all of the music is also very improvised. Elements of dark ambient can also be heard at times along with the bass guitars also being added into the background and both of the tracks are also improvised and sound different from each other.
On this recording Nadja moves away from the doom metal elements of previous releases and goes for a mixture of dark ambient, drone an minimalism to create something very different from previous releases as well as keeping everything instrumental while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nadja and if you are a fan of dark ambient, drone and minimalism, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Part 2". 8 out of 10.
