Luna/Self Titled/Solitude Productions/2019 CD Review

 

  Ukraine's  solo  project  Luna  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  symphonic  and  instrumental  mixture  of  funeral  doom  and  death  metal  from  his  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  titled  2019  album  which  was  released  by  Solitude  Productions.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  funeral  doom  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  also  mixing  in  a  great  amount  of  symphonic  elements.  All  3  of  the  tracks  are  very long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  death  metal  elements.

  All  of  the  tracks  are  also  instrumental  while  one  of  the  tracks  is  also  all  orchestra  along  with  the  keyboards  also  adding  in  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys.  At  times  the  music  also  captures  a  very  tragic  atmosphere  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  touch  of  classical  music,  the  closing  track  also  sees  the  music  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  as  well  as the  music  speeding  up  briefly  and  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  blast  beats

  On  this  recording  Luna  remains  true  to  the  symphonic  mixture  of  funeral  doom  and  death  metal  that  he  has  established  on  previous  releases  as  well  as  keeping  everything  instrumental  while  the  production  also  sounds  very  professional.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Luna  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  symphonic  and  instrumental  funeral  doom/death  metal,  you  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "I'.  8  out  of  10.

Luna/Swallow Me Leaden Sky/Solitude Productions/2017 CD Review

  Luna  are  a  band  from  Ukraine  that  plays  a  symphonic  and  instrumental  mixture  of  funeral  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "Swallow  Me  Leaden  Sky"  which  will  be  released  by  Solitude  Productions.

  Atmospheric  sounding  synths  start off  the  album  while  also  bringing  in  symphonic  elements  at  times  as  well  as  mixing  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  which  are  mostly done  in  a  slow  funeral  doom  metal  fashion  and  both  of  the tracks  that  are  present  on  the  recording  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length

  All  of  the  songs  are instrumental  with  no  vocals  or  song  writing  ever  being  utilized  while  elements  of  death  metal are  also  utilized  at  times  and  on  the  second  track  the  synths  also  start  bringing  in  a  variety  of  more  keys  along  with  all  of  the  music  sticking  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction  as  well  as  the  drums  speeding  up  briefly  and  adding  in  more  aggression  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion.

  Luna  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  funeral  doom  metal  while  the  symphonic  and  death  metal  elements  gives  the  songs  more  originality  as  well  as  keeping  everything  instrumental  and  the  production  sounds  very  professional.

  In  my  opinion  Luna  are  a  very  great  sounding  symphonic  and  instrumental  mixture  of  funeral  doom  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Everything  Becomes  Dust".  8  out  of  10.

Luna/Ashes To Ashes/Solitude Productions/2014 CD Review

  Luna  are  a  1  man  band  from  Ukraine  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  symphonic  form  of  funeral  doom/death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2014  album  "Ashes  to  Ashes"  which  was  released  by  Solitude  Productions.

  Dark  sounding  symphonic  synths  start  off  the  album  and  they  also  use  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  and  after  a  couple  of  minutes  the  music  starts  going  for  a  more  heavier  and  atmospheric  direction  as  well  adding  in  the  doom  metal  sounds  and  there  is  also  a  great  amount  of  melody  being  used  throughout  this  55  minute  long  song.

  As  the  song  progresses  it  starts  going  for  a  more  melodic  funeral  doom  metal  sound  and  it  sticks  to  a  slow  musical  direction  from  beginning  to  end  as  well  as  having  a  symphonic  sounding  background  and  after  34  minutes  of  being  all  instrumental  tribal  elements,  demonic  growling  vocals  and  drones  become  a  part  of  the  song  briefly  while  the  music  remains  true  to  a  funeral  doom/dearth  metal  direction  and  then  the  music  also  goes  back  to  being  all  instrumental  and  during  the  last  5  minutes  of  the  song  melodic  guitar  leads  are  added  into  the  music.

  Luna  creates  a  very  long  and  dark  55  minute  epic  song  with  this  album  bringing  a  more  symphonic,  melodic  and  atmospheric  take  on  funeral  doom/death  metal  while  still  having  the  heaviness  this  genre  is  known  for  and  he  sticks  to  mostly  an  instrumental  direction  with  only  a  few  seconds  of  growls   and  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  powerful  and  heavy sounding.

  In  my  opinion  Luna  are  a  very  great  sounding atmospheric  and  symphonic  funeral  doom/death  metal  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  8  out  of  10.
