The Slumbering/The Loss Of Humanity Complete/Aesthetic Death/2025 Full Length Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  U.S.A's  solo  project  The  Slumbering  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of   noise,  occult  drone  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2025  album  "The  Loss  Of  Humanity  Complete"  which  will  be  released  on  March  28th  by  Aesthetic  Death.

  Power  electronics  and  distorted  drones  start  off  the  album  while  demonic  voices  are  also  added  into  the  background  at  times.    Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  heavy  guitar  riffing  also  being  more  rooted  in  doom  metal  and  most  of  the  music  is  also  improvised.

  The  recording  also  captures  a  very  occult  atmosphere  at  times  while  one  track  also  adds  in  high  pitched  screams.  Noises  which  are  not  as  harsh  as  the  previous  releases  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  all  of  the  songs  also  sounding  very  different  from  each  other   

  On  this  recording  The  Slumbeing  keeps  the  doom  metal  elements  of  previous  releases,  moves  away  from  the  harsh  noises  and  brings  in  more  of  an  occult  drone  style  to  create  something  very  different  from  previous  albums  while  the  production  sounds  very  dark.   

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  The  Slumbering  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  noise,  occult  drone  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Chapel  Of  The  Damned"  and  "Belief  in  Social  Doctrines".  8  out  of  10.

The Slumbeing/When We Forget It Repeats/Aesthetic Death/Trepanation Recordings/2023 Full Length Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  recording  from  U.S.A's  solo  project  The  Slumbering  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of  harsh  noise  and  doom  metal  and  the  album  was  released  in  2023  as  a  joint  effort  between  Aesthetic  South  and  Trepanation  Recordings  and  called  "When  We  Forget  It  Repeats".

  Power  electronics  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  whispered  chants  and  harsh  noises  a  few  seconds  later.  Synths  and  effects  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  album  while  aggressive  sounding  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  as  well  as  a  lot  of  the  songs  bringing  in  more  of  an  improvised  direction.

  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  a  lot  of  the  music  sticks  to  more  of  an  instrumental  direction.  When  electric  guitars  are  utilized  they  also  bring  in  the  heaviness  of  doom  metal  along  with  some  percussion  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  album,  demonic  voices  are  also  introduced  on  a  couple  of  songs  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  small  amount  of  industrial  touches  can  also  be  heard.  

  On  this  recording  The  Slumbering  focuses  more  of  a  very  diverse  style  of  harsh  noise  as  well  as  mixing  in  the  heaviness  of  doom  metal  to  create  something  very  original  while  the  production  also  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  The  Slumbering  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  harsh  noise  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Be  Afraid  if  God  Was  Really  Watching"  "Corporal  Travels"  "Suffocation  Of  The  Inner  Love"  and  "You  Where  Betrayed".  8  out  of  10.

  The  Slumbering  are  a  solo  project  that h as  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a mixture  of  harsh  noise,  power  electronics  and  doom metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "End  Of  Mortal  Will"  which  was  released  by  Trepanation  Recordings.

  Dark  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  while  power  electronics  can  also be  heard  in  the  background  before  going  into  a  more  powerful  direction.  When  guitars  are  added  onto  the  recording  they  also  bring  in  the  heaviness  of  doom  metal  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  being  instrumentals.

  Melodies  can  also b e  heard  at  times  while  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  music  also  mixes  in  elements  of  harsh  noise.  Percussion  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  a  lot  of  the  music  also  sounding  like  it  was  improvised  and  the  whole  recording  also  sticks  to  a  slower  direction.

  On  this  recording  The  Slumbering  focuses  more  on  power  electronics  and  noise  as  well  as  keeping  the  doom  metal  elements  of  previous  releases  while  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  The  Slumbering  and  if  you  are  a  fan   of  power  electronics,  harsh  noise  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Distant  Visions"  "Interdimensional"  and  "As  The  Raven  Sorrows  No  More".  8  out  of  10.

The Slumbering/Looking For Sorrow Within Ones Fear/Dead Games Records/Aesthetic Death/2021 Full Length Review

 

  The  Slumbering  are  a  solo  project  from  Phoenix,  Arizona  that  plays  a  musical  style  he  describes  as  being  'astral  doom  noise'  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2021  album  "Looking  For  Sorrow  Within  Ones  Fear"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between Dead  Games  Records  and  Aesthetic  Death.

  Power  electronics  a nd  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  while  the  slow  heavy  guitar  riffing  also  brings  in  elements  of  doom  metal.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  sounding  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  instrumental.

  Effects  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  songs  also  mix  in  a  great  amount  of  harsh  noises.  When  vocals  are  brought  into  the  music  they  also  add  in  a  touch  of  black  metal  along  with  each  track  sounding  very  different  from  each  other  and  capturing  a  sci-fi  orientated  atmosphere  at  times.

  The  Slumbering  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  harsh  noise,  power  electronics,  experimental  and  doom  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  his  onw.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  music  focuses  mostly  on  astral  themes.

  In  my  opinion  The  Slumbering  is  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  harsh  noise,  power  electronics,  experimental  and  doom  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Daddy  Doesn't  Love  You  Right"  "Suffocation  March  Phrase  1"  and  "Conflict  From  The  6th  Dimension".  8  out  of  10.
